RapidTyping is a free typing course intended for adults and children alike. This application features an appealing graphical user interface available in several languages. We can set the colors of the user interface and a type of background: basic, still green/blue bottom sea, or a bottom sea with animations. This last option can be very convenient for children. In addition, this program enables us to switch the language of the texts, and upload our own practicing materials. The classical texts for practicing English are taken from The Adventures of Pinocchio novel, while the Spanish lessons display a part of Don Quixote novel.
There are several keyboards layouts and two speed counter modes: words per minute and characters per minute.
This course starts with basic characters, followed by syllables, shift keys, words, digits, symbols, texts, and numeric pad. The virtual multicolor keyboard shows the position of each finger. The only mistake I have found is that the Spanish texts display no accents, although we need to type them to get a correct mark in tests. There are additional online resources, such as texts, games, tips, contest, test, etc. to improve and test our typing skills.
